News

We wanted to provide you with an important update regarding the ongoing equipment upgrades at our pool, as well as address concerns raised by some residents regarding transparency and the delayed opening.

Transparency and Rumor Clarification:

We want to assure you that we have made every effort to be transparent throughout this process. Unfortunately, there have been rumors circulating regarding the project, including speculation about full payment before work completion, a lack of permits, and working in secret to keep information from residents. We want to dispel these rumors and reiterate that we have been fully transparent with our residents throughout the upgrade process.

Contract Details and Payments:

To provide some background, the contract for the equipment upgrades was signed in February 2022, with an initial expected completion date of May 2022. The total amount of the contract was for approximately $78,000, divided into three payments. As of this date, the first two payments totaling approximately $58,000 have been made, with the final payment due upon completion of the work.

COVID-19 and Supply Chain Constraints:

Due to the unforeseen impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent supply chain constraints, the specified pool equipment was not available until later in 2022. There were challenges in sourcing the necessary components and a lack of skilled tradespeople specialized in commercial pool installations. These circumstances, beyond our control, have resulted in delays to the project timeline.

Upgrade Process and Installation:

The upgrade process began in Fall 2022 with the removal of the old equipment. Subsequently, we proceeded with the installation of new equipment, which started in February 2023. However, during the course of the project, certain adjustments were required in the placement of heaters and equipment. These changes necessitated modifications to the engineering and design plans, as well as further communication with the City of Centennial’s building department. These additional steps were necessary before we could proceed with the project.

Permitting Process and Address Confusion:

We understand concerns were raised regarding the permit for the installation. We would like to clarify that the permit was applied for in March 2023, and after review, it was approved by the City of Centennial on April 4, 2023. However, an unfortunate typo resulted in an incorrect address listed on the permit, which may have caused some confusion. We want to reiterate that a permit was obtained, and any necessary additional permits, such as for electrical and gas hookup, will be acquired as the specific work progresses. These additional permits are typically issued over the counter and do not require a lengthy approval process.

Delayed Opening and Remaining Work:

Regrettably, the pool did not open on time as originally anticipated. We understand the disappointment and frustration this has caused among our residents. We want to assure you that we are fully committed to completing the remaining work as swiftly as possible to open the pool for your enjoyment.

In the week after Memorial Day, the board held a meeting to discuss the options and determine the best course of action moving forward. After careful consideration, a majority of the board expressed their support to continue working with our current contractor. We have full confidence in their expertise and their commitment to completing the project to the highest standards. Additionally, we are pleased to inform you that a board member has taken on a direct role in overseeing the project and is in constant contact with our contractor. This ensures open lines of communication and allows for timely updates on the progress. As of now, the electrical work for the new equipment has commenced and is underway.

The current update regarding the equipment is that, due to a change in the equipment design, it is being forwarded to the City of Centennial for approval. In the meantime, the electrician is moving forward to wire in the pumps. The remaining tasks include the installation of heaters and final plumbing connections. We are actively working with our contractors to expedite the completion of these tasks.

Looking Ahead:

While we understand that the delayed opening of the pool has been frustrating and disappointing, we want to assure you that both the board and our contractors are working diligently to minimize any further delays and successfully complete the project. We share in your anticipation for the pool’s reopening, especially during the summer season when it is in high demand.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and frustration that may have been caused by these circumstances. Our top priority is to ensure a safe, fully functional, and enjoyable pool environment for all residents. To keep you updated on the progress of the maintenance upgrades and the anticipated pool opening date, we will continue to provide regular updates.

Thank you for your understanding, patience, and ongoing support. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Knolls Village Board of Directors through our website, voicemail, or by writing a letter. We value your feedback and are committed to promptly addressing any issues that may arise.

We understand your frustration and disappointment, but we kindly request that you allow the Board to be the sole point of contact with the pool contractor. It is important to maintain an efficient and focused work environment. Having multiple parties involved in communications at this stage can be counterproductive and may distract the contractor from completing the remaining work. Rest assured that the Board is actively overseeing the project and fully committed to addressing any concerns or feedback you may have.

We value your input and encourage you to continue sharing your thoughts and concerns with the Board. Your feedback is important to us, and we are always willing to listen and address any issues that arise. Together, we can ensure a successful completion of the project and provide you with the upgraded pool facility you deserve.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work towards the final stages of the project. We appreciate your ongoing support and patience throughout this process.

Throughout this process, we remain committed to transparency and will continue to keep you informed of any significant developments. We appreciate your understanding as we navigate these challenges and work diligently to provide you with an upgraded pool facility that meets your expectations.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the pool soon and creating a wonderful recreational experience for all residents. Thank you once again for your cooperation and unwavering support.
